Discover the First Porsche Charging Station

Porsche has launched its first charging station where its customers can recharge in a high-end atmosphere.

First of all, one might ask: “Why launch your own charging network so late?”. Digging a little, the logic becomes clear: performance. Because true excellence today in the electric vehicle universe doesn’t lie in acceleration or top speed, which are almost trivial, but in the mileage… per minute of charging.

Thus, Porsche inaugurated in Germany, in Bingen am Rheim, its first Charging Lounge where six 300 kW charging stations are offered (as well as 4 other AC chargers of 22 kW that are less stressful for the battery). The location aims to match the brand’s electric vehicles: charge as quickly as possible, with a Taycan capable of accepting up to 270 kW of energy… that is 100 km of range recovered in 4.5 minutes. Just enough time to plug in, go to the lounge for a coffee, wash up (or other), and the Taycan has regained 300 km of range.

By the end of the year, Porsche even promises an increase up to 400 kW per station, in anticipation of future models on the catalog that will feature a 900-volt electric architecture. Centralized billing is managed by Porsche and its Charging Service, and the recharge price of 33 cents per kilowatt-hour is as low as other fast charging stations in the Ionity network, which Porsche customers already benefit from.

Finally, the energy comes exclusively from certified renewable sources. Payments can be made with debit and credit cards as well as with Apple Pay or Google Pay. Analog and digital media as well as a high-performance WiFi network are also available.

Never does Porsche specify whether competing brands like Tesla or others in the Volkswagen group will be able to recharge there.
