New Volkswagen Golf GTI ’24, still the queen of sports cars?

In 2024, the Volkswagen Golf GTI will experience one of its final thermal iterations before switching to electric in the future.

It’s important to savor the good moments when they come. Because what appears before our eyes today is most likely the last expression of the legendary Golf GTI’s thermal sportiness.

Volkswagen has merely revealed its sporty model, without delving into technical details, simply stating that its sportiness will once again be enhanced.

Its powertrain appears to remain 100% thermal, with an announced consumption of 7.0 liters per 100 km and 160 grams of CO2 emitted per km. In France, this value will expose it to a “only” 4,279 € eco-tax in 2024. A very reasonable amount when you know that some competitors in the same segment face a 50,000 euro tax! It is also revealed that an even more extreme version, with all-wheel drive called R, will still be part of the lineup (7.8 liters / 100, 178 g of CO2, €18,858 tax).

Esthetically, this final version is mainly recognizable by its 3D lighting and some sporty gimmicks. Inside, Volkswagen aimed to emphasize connectivity, notably with the introduction of ChatGPT. No comment.

Details of prices and technical sheets will be revealed soon. The number one piece of information is, therefore, the survival of a legend. But for how much longer?
