Tesla Model S Plaid €23,500 cheaper than one year ago!

Sold for €131,490 in May 2023, the most powerful model in the Tesla catalog, the Model S Plaid, is now listed at €107,990.

If only Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin could reduce their prices by such proportions! The problem, once you’ve said that, is to face reality: falling prices are because customers are not showing up. And to attract them, there’s no choice but to cut into margins.

But even without reaching the heights of luxury cars, premium German manufacturers position their vehicles and then barely change their prices. Tesla is caught in an opaque commercial strategy that scares off potential buyers, regardless of the intrinsic quality of the product. You don’t buy a car costing more than 100,000 euros the same way you’d buy a bag of potatoes.

The Weight of Age?

Launched in 2012, facelifted once in 2016 and again in 2021, the Tesla Model S bears the marks of time. Its performance remains at the forefront thanks to regular updates (the magic of electric), but its lines eventually become tiresome. The same goes for build quality, which no longer meets the expectations of an increasingly demanding clientele.

Between 2023 and 2024, however, Tesla has made a notable change in its offerings: the removal of the stunning 21-inch alloy wheels called Arachnid. They are now replaced by plastic hubcaps (yes, really!) or are available at a cost of €4,900.

The Tesla Model S Plaid is not the only one experiencing a dramatic price drop (-18.9%) within a year. The entry-level Dual Motor version went from €106,490 to €92,990, a discount of €13,500 (-12.7%). On April 12, 2024, this version was still priced at €94,990, a €2,000 decrease without any official announcement from Tesla. The same can be said for the Model S Plaid, which was listed at €109,990 on the same date.
