The Deuche is back, and it’s plugged in! At the Paris Motor Show 2026, Citroën unveils a 2 CV Concept announcing a European model on the horizon for 2028. With one ambition: a starting price close to 15,000 euros.
Bringing a legend back to life always attracts a few glances at a booth. But Citroën presents here a promise that’s much more interesting than just recycling a name: reclaiming a small, accessible, practical, and reasonable car. Provided, of course, that the intentions survive the transition to dealerships.
Because the 15,000 euros is a goal, not yet a guaranteed price. The manufacturer does not promise to go below this threshold. Still, this future electric car, positioned between the Ami and C3, could give meaning to the return of the 2 CV.
With a length of 3.76 meters, the concept is even shorter than its ancestor. A delightful anomaly in an industry where descendants usually take on several sizes. Citroën is also targeting a weight around one tonne, to limit battery needs and control costs. However, no capacity or range figures are announced.
A realistic design?
The silhouette fully embraces the family-oriented approach: round headlights, curvy fenders, a curved roof, and a folding soft top. Inside, the single-spoke steering wheel is accompanied by colorful benches, an eight-inch screen, and a removable radio called “Radioën.” The front bench can even be removed from the car for an improvised break.
Not everything will necessarily make it to production. But separately replaceable bumpers and the search for simplicity connect more to the original spirit than any nostalgic detail.
Manufactured in Europe, the future Citroën must now hold this equation: character, useful equipment, and a genuinely popular price. The electric Deuche has found its argument. Now it remains to transform the applause at the show into orders.
