Fiat Multiplay: They Dared to Reinvent the Multipla… and Succeeded!
Let’s face it: at the idea of seeing Fiat resurrect the spirit of the Multipla, we had prepared our safety glasses.
Reinventing an icon of “ugliness” like our beloved Multipla is an exercise that could lead to aesthetic misconduct. Surprise: the Multiplay concept, unveiled in Paris, mainly makes you want to applaud.
The tour de force does not consist of erasing the original to slap its name on some random SUV. Fiat retains that distinctive silhouette, those generous glass surfaces, and this way of embracing space rather than apologizing for being a family car. The spirit of the Multipla remains, its stylistic markers, its endearing rejection of conventions. But this time, the whole picture presents a frankly appealing proposition. The personality has survived the operation.

And this reinterpretation is not just about looking good on a stand. At 4.45 meters long, the Multiplay plays the Swiss Army knife: a minivan, SUV, and pickup all in one body. Its sliding rear module transforms the family cabin into a four-seater vehicle with an open bed. Even the spoiler works: it becomes a bike rack that can hold two bikes.
Clever and Almost Attractive
Inside, six seats are complemented by a module called “Petsenger seat,” usable for a pet, storage, or as a small table. The front passenger seat can also transform into a chaise longue when stationary. Enough to wait comfortably while the kids search for their shoes.

The palette, inspired by watermelon, combines green bodywork with a red and pink interior. On paper, one might fear a candy store aesthetic. In this carefree universe, it contributes to the charm.
However, there remains a frustration: Fiat specifies that this idea lab does not foreshadow any specific production model. Too bad, because this useful whim would do the automotive landscape some good.

Renewing the Multipla without stripping it of its soul, while making it appealing to look at: honestly, well done! We never thought we would write this one day.
