Electric truck: the new MAN eTGX promises up to 720 km of range
With new batteries and a redesigned cab, the MAN eTGX aims to make long-distance electric transport easier to operate.
Transporting goods over long distances without burning diesel is becoming a more credible scenario. With its new electric truck eTGX, which will be unveiled on September 14 at the IAA Transportation 2026, MAN announces up to 720 kilometers of range. However, not all models will be able to cover this distance.
This performance will be available for the future 6×2 tractor equipped with seven battery packs, for a total capacity of 644 kWh. The classic 4×2 tractor, with six packs and 552 kWh, claims up to 660 kilometers. However, the manufacturer does not detail the charging conditions, route, or weather associated with these maximums.
To advance, MAN is relying on a new generation of batteries that offer 10% more usable energy, without reducing the payload. The front of the vehicle, extended by 120 mm, improves aerodynamics. Energy recovery also increases by up to 20%, while the announced efficiency gain reaches 3%. The available powertrains now range from 333 to 598 hp.
A recharge designed for breaks
The other promise concerns stops. Available as an option, the MCS charging system accepts a maximum power of 750 kW. MAN mentions approximately thirty minutes to recharge the batteries, without specifying the starting and ending levels. Therefore, this figure should not be interpreted as a full charge.
Better visibility around the truck
The new eTGX also features a windshield that descends lower and a lower window in the passenger door. The goal: to better see nearby users.
It remains to know the price and the precise commercialization schedule. Two decisive pieces of information to turn this electric promise into orders.
