Electric cars on an electric truck… makes sense!

Mercedes eActros 600 electric

The first 100% electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 car transporter enters service in Denmark.

Transporting electric cars with a diesel truck had something contradictory about it. This inconsistency began to fade with Tesla’s use of its Semi and is now resonating in Europe. The Danish logistics company Dansk Auto Logik has just put its first 100% electric car transporter into operation, based on the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600. This is an important advancement for electric automotive logistics in Europe.

This electric Mercedes truck provides regular service between Vamdrup, Denmark, and Bremerhaven, Germany, covering a distance of over 380 kilometers. Designed for transporting new vehicles, the car transporter can carry up to six cars thanks to a specific configuration combining an eActros 600 tractor and a two-axle trailer.

A 100% electric environment

To optimize the range of the electric truck, the trailer even has its own battery dedicated to the hydraulic systems used during loading and unloading. An ingenious solution that avoids putting pressure on the main vehicle batteries.

Beyond the announcement effect, this project primarily serves as a real-world test for long-distance electric road transport. Dansk Auto Logik wants to assess the economic viability of zero-emission cross-border transport as well as the effectiveness of charging infrastructures between Denmark and Germany. The company has already installed its own charging stations at its Danish site, while return charges are carried out at public German stations.

Produced in series since late 2024, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is currently the flagship electric truck of the German manufacturer. With its three LFP batteries totaling 621 kWh, it claims a range of up to 500 kilometers with a total weight of 40 tons. Mercedes-Benz Trucks even states that it can exceed 1,000 kilometers daily with suitable intermediate charging.
