This transformed Mercedes eActros 600 into a training truck represents a key milestone in driver training.

In Isques, in the Pas-de-Calais, a training center is innovating by integrating an unusual heavy truck into its fleet: a Mercedes eActros 600 converted into a training truck. This pioneering initiative supports the energy transition in road transport and enhances the learning of electric truck driving.

“We must always move forward,” summarizes Jean-Marie Sauvage, head of the ECF Pro Boulogne-sur-Mer center alongside his daughters Virginie and Peggy. Their organization, which operates 28 training trucks across nine agencies, now welcomes the first 100% electric training truck in France. A strategic choice, as the transport sector gradually shifts towards decarbonized engines and sustainable mobility solutions.

Happy students!

For Virginie Sauvage, the objective is clear: to adapt training to the developments in the road transport market. “Road transport is undergoing a major transformation, and it is essential that training keeps pace with these changes.” Thanks to this new educational tool, trainees can concretely familiarize themselves with driving an electric truck, which is still rare in heavy transport.

This project was carried out with the support of the local distributor of the German manufacturer, as well as Opco Mobilités, which contributed to the funding of the vehicle and the charging station installed at the Isques site. A commitment that highlights the importance of professional training in the sector’s energy transition.

Before its commissioning, the truck was adapted to the specific needs of training. The bodybuilder Brevet notably replaced the sleeping area with a four-seat back bench, allowing for multiple students. A unique feature distinguishes this training truck: the addition of two extra pedals on the passenger side, giving the instructor full control of the vehicle.
