With these new Fastned charging stations, some electric vehicle users will be able to regain a significant range in a short amount of time.

Fastned is beginning to deploy its fast chargers on the highways of SANEF (Société des autoroutes du Nord et de l’Est de la France). The Dutch company has just opened its first station at the Vémars Est rest area, on the A1, in the Paris-Lille direction.

This new installation is the largest in the Fastned network. It features 16 charging points capable of providing up to 300 kW. Vehicles capable of supporting high charging power will be able to recover 300 km of range in 20 minutes, according to the operator. Benchmark vehicles in this field include the Porsche Taycan, Tesla, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Kia EV6.

The company plans to open “very soon” a station with similar features at the Vémars Ouest rest area, opposite the recently inaugurated one. In total, 16 Fastned stations will be established on the SANEF network’s highways.

“All the elements that make Fastned the best rapid charging experience will be available at the stations, including payment terminals for card payments and the Autocharge feature, which recognizes the vehicle and automatically starts the session”, states the company. “All stations have 3 types of connectors (CCS, CHAdeMO, and Type 2), allowing all electric vehicle drivers to use the station.”

In France, Fastned charges 59 cents per kWh. A more advantageous rate is offered with the Gold Member subscription at €11.99/month, which may be beneficial for frequent users of the stations.
