The parking of the future exceeds (electric) charging stations in Paris

Preview of electric vehicle mobility, the Saemes company has transformed a Parisian parking lot with over 500 charging stations.
It is in the 8th arrondissement that you need to go to find a parking site of a new kind. Beneath Place Madeleine, Saemes has converted its parking lot of about a thousand spaces. A total of 505 charging stations allow electric cars to recharge. Their power is mostly 7 kW, meaning about 7 hours for a full charge of a Renault ZOE. Plug-in hybrids can of course connect too, for a fill-up between 1 and 4 hours depending on the battery size.
An area with 30 spaces is also specifically designed for electric two-wheelers, along with a locker for 50 bicycles.
What is the cost of charging at Paris Madeleine parking?
How to recharge at these stations? You can use the Fleet TotalEnergies card, but not only. Fortunately, Saemes specifies that the stations also work “thanks to mobility cards from service providers like Belib’, Chargemap, Freshmile, NewMotion…” The price, however, is a bit high, at €0.40/kWh (about €2.8/hour at 7 kW), with an additional €0.50 per session. A full recharge of a Dacia Spring (26.4 kWh) would cost about €11.30, and a Peugeot e-208 (50 kWh), around twenty euros.

More than just a giant charging station, this Madeleine site is becoming the largest charging infrastructure in France. It contributes to the effort that many companies and communities have been deploying for over 2 years. After a period of limited growth in the public charging network, Avere-France reported a surge in installations. The Gireve July 2022 barometer indicates 64,546 charging points nationwide.
227 charging points at Porte d’Auteuil
The company has also installed other outlets in a different parking lot, on a smaller scale. The Porte d’Auteuil location, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, has 227 charging points. Very few spaces have 22 kW (three-phase AC) outlets, allowing recharges in less than 1.5 hours. Other sites will also upgrade in the coming weeks, including Carnot (Paris 17th), which will adopt 100 charging stations.
The goal of Saemes is to convert “nearly 50% of its Parisian parking capacity” by the end of 2022. This would amount to approximately 1,000 charging points.
