Lynk & Co 08

Derived from the plug-in hybrid Volvo XC60, the Lynk & Co 08 is preparing to follow in the footsteps of its little sister 01.

Owned by the giant Geely, just like Volvo, the young manufacturer has adopted all the technical solutions of the Volvo XC40 to develop its first European model, the 01, notably the highly sought-after plug-in hybrid architecture in Western countries. But it is mainly Lynk & Co’s business model that has allowed the brand to quickly emerge from anonymity. Indeed, its 01 model was offered from launch with an innovative leasing formula.

For 500 euros per month at launch, then 550 and finally 600 euros this year, this all-inclusive package includes the car, but also maintenance, insurance… and the possibility to cancel at any time! But that’s not all. Via an app, it is also possible for the renter to make their car available when not in use and thus earn money. Finally, the model benefits from Volvo’s after-sales service, ensuring peace of mind for everyone still skeptical about the reliability of Chinese brands.

The year 2023 will see the arrival of a brand new model. Named Lynk & Co 08, it marks a certain upscale shift, as it is now based on the Volvo XC60, rather than the XC40.

It will once again feature a plug-in hybrid engine combining up to 593 hp with a fully electric range of 200 km compared to 70 for the 01. Lynk & Co announces a maximum range of 1400 km by combining thermal and electric energy. It’s optimistic, but advances in hybrid technology are making these four-figure ranges increasingly common.

With a length of 4,820 mm, a width of 1,915 mm, and a height of 1,685 mm, it’s a handsome vehicle, but the Fastback line softens these dimensions. Inside the cabin, there is a 15.4-inch digital display inspired by Tesla, paired with a generously sized 12.3-inch driver display. The 23-speaker sound system is once again entrusted to Harman/Kardon, and four massaging seats will let you enjoy your journey in utmost comfort.

The model’s commercial launch has already begun in China at an attractive price of $30,500. But let’s not dream; this price will need to be increased by the usual taxes and fees to reach an estimated European price close to €50,000. A European arrival is expected in April 2024.
