With 300 horsepower, the Renault Rafale becomes a tornado!

The Renault Rafale features an unprecedented 300-horsepower plug-in hybrid engine that enables all-wheel drive transmission.

Renault reveals a high-performance version of its Rafale. Its new plug-in hybrid motor offers the best of both worlds, thermal and electric, with a preference for all-electric driving in daily use. Guaranteeing up to 1,000 km of range on the WLTP cycle, the addition of an electric motor on the rear axle equips it with an active four-wheel drive system at all times. The chassis tuning performed by Alpine engineers, along with an intelligent active suspension and rear-wheel steering and drive, promise the Renault Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 hp Atelier Alpine a high level of behavior and driving enjoyment.

The powertrain of this Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 hp was developed based on the technical foundation of the E-Tech hybrid 200 hp powertrain, to which a rear electric motor and a rechargeable battery with a substantial capacity of 22 kWh are added. On paper, this gives our Rafale a 100-kilometer range in 100% electric mode.

The Alpine expertise

The 1.2L 3-cylinder combustion engine adopts a new turbocharger, increasing its power to 150 horsepower. It is coupled with three electric motors, 2 main and 1 secondary, for a total maximum power of 300 hp. Allowing smooth acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and offering generous torque. In terms of behavior, nothing has been left to chance, with notably an innovative intelligent piloted suspension, coupled with a camera mounted at the top of the windshield. This system considers the vehicle’s speed and the driver’s actions to continuously adjust damping based on upcoming obstacles such as speed bumps or rough pavement.

In addition to the common Esprit Alpine finish found on the 200 hp hybrid E-Tech version, the Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 hp is offered in an exclusive Atelier Alpine edition. An evocative name that highlights the specialized expertise brought to Renault by Alpine Cars engineers. The Satin Blue body color paired with 21-inch rims and a starry black spoiler give the SUV coupe a decidedly sporty look.
