Lexus LM (2023): a new generation of hybrid minivan
This page is translated from the original post "Lexus LM (2023) : une nouvelle génération de monospace hybride" in French.

If there’s one segment where Lexus wasn’t expected, it’s the minivan segment. The LM is a surprising vehicle, capable of carrying 7 passengers and equipped with a Full Hybrid engine.
With twenty years of experience in the automotive industry, I have witnessed numerous transformations in this sector, which, although often criticized, remains a fantastic gateway to freedom of movement, as well as a laboratory of innovations and a major source of employment. In France, the minivan experienced its heyday especially under the influence of Renault models, Scénic and Espace. However, the last ten years have seen the market turn 180°, with the clear rise and now dominance of SUVs. But when asked if an SUV is more practical than a good old minivan, a large majority of the population must admit that these remain more convivial on board in terms of modularity and space management.

Used to sedans and SUVs, here comes the Japanese Lexus venturing into the… minivan segment. Presented at the Shanghai Motor Show 2023, its Lexus LM (short for Luxury Mover or luxurious transporter in proper French) will be sold in France starting this fall! Measuring 5.13 meters long and 1.89 meters wide, it’s actually closer to a Volkswagen Transporter-type minivan, especially considering its enormous 3-meter wheelbase, which hints at an XXL interior space. Lexus announces that various configurations will be available, either in 4-seat mode for maximum comfort, or in 7 seats for large families or professional use.
A true cinema setup

If you choose the 4-seat version, you’ll have the privilege of watching your favorite movies or series on an enormous 48-inch screen and listening to your favorite artists thanks to the sound delivered by 23 speakers with 3D effect via the HI-FI system.
Under the hood of the French version, Lexus made the smart choice of fitting it with the renowned 2.5-liter Full Hybrid 4-cylinder engine, shared with the Lexus NX 350h among others. The power is comfortable (250 hp and 239 Nm of torque) and passenger safety will be ensured by the E-Four all-wheel drive system. While consumption and CO2 emissions figures are not yet known, there is no doubt they will be reasonable for a vehicle of this class.
