BYD Aims to Sell its “Super Hybrid” at the Price of a Hybrid
The Chinese manufacturer launches a summer offer on the Sealion 5 DM-i, its plug-in hybrid SUV equipped with DM-i technology.
BYD continues to roll out its plug-in hybrid range in France with a promotional offer on the Sealion 5 DM-i. Until July 31, 2026, the family SUV is available from 339 euros per month with no down payment in long-term leasing, while its entry-level price is set at 30,990 euros in Comfort trim.
With this model, the manufacturer highlights its DM-i (Dual Mode Intelligence) technology, a plug-in hybrid architecture that prioritizes electric propulsion in most driving situations. The 1.5-liter internal combustion engine mainly comes into play to generate energy or during trips requiring more range.
Incentive for Electric
According to data provided by BYD, the Sealion 5 DM-i can travel up to 86 kilometers in 100% electric mode in its Design version. This range allows for covering a large part of daily commutes without relying on the gasoline engine.
The manufacturer also announces a weighted combined WLTP consumption of 2.1 l/100 km and a combined range of up to 1,016 kilometers with a full tank and a charged battery. These performances rely notably on the electronic management of the hybrid system and on the use of the Blade battery developed in-house by BYD.
The Sealion 5 DM-i is part of a plug-in hybrid range that now includes six models on the French market. This lineup includes the Dolphin G DM-i, Atto 2 DM-i, Seal U DM-i, Seal 6 DM-i, and Seal 6 DM-i Touring.
