The Dacia Sandero Goes Hybrid Without Giving Up Its Attractive Price
The Dacia Sandero and Stepway adopt the Hybrid 155 powertrain. A major evolution for the best-selling city car.
At under 20,000 euros, the Dacia Sandero Hybrid 155 maintains its position among the most affordable hybrids on the market. Long offered with petrol and LPG engines, the Dacia Sandero continues its evolution with the introduction of the new Hybrid 155 powertrain. Already introduced on the Jogger, Duster, and then Bigster, this technology is now available for order on the Sandero Stepway in France, before being rolled out to the Sandero in July.
This new offering is part of the gradual electrification strategy of the Franco-Romanian manufacturer. Dacia states that one in four vehicles sold by the brand is now electrified, while hybrid versions account for nearly 30% of its French sales by the end of May 2026.
The Hybrid 155 powertrain combines a 1.8-liter petrol engine with 109 hp and two electric motors powered by a 1.4 kWh battery. The system operates with a six-speed electrified automatic transmission, devoid of a clutch. This system allows for systematic starting in electric mode and can ensure up to 80% of urban trips without engaging the thermal engine, thanks in part to regenerative braking.
No more penalties!
Dacia announces a combined consumption of 4.2 l/100 km for the Sandero and 4.4 l/100 km for the Sandero Stepway, with CO₂ emissions limited to 96 g/km and 100 g/km respectively, levels that happily allow evasion of the French ecological penalty.
Beyond the numbers, this powertrain promises a quieter drive, sharper acceleration at low speeds, and a reduction in consumption that can reach 40% compared to an equivalent petrol version, without the constraints associated with charging an electric vehicle.

By integrating this technology into its flagship model, Dacia complements a range that also includes petrol TCe engines and Eco-G LPG versions, while strengthening its position in the affordable hybrid market. A logical evolution for the Sandero, which has remained the best-selling car to private customers in Europe for several years.
