Volvo unveils the EX90, its new electric giant

The first copies of Volvo’s 100% electric large SUV are already on their way to dealerships in the United States and Europe.

This EX90 is the new flagship of Volvo and sits right at the top of the manufacturer’s model pyramid. Modern and undeniably ambitious, it aims to set new standards in the areas dear to the brand, namely safety, sustainability, and human-centered technology. So as not to disappoint, Volvo seems to have set the bar very high!

The development prototypes of the new EX90 have been put to the test in recent weeks during a road trip across the United States. A charming little high-paced journey between Volvo’s factory in Charleston, South Carolina, and California. 950 kilometers through three U.S. states, under very varied driving conditions and surfaces. It was also an opportunity to take some beautiful photos… everything is worth capturing.

Volvo’s Electric Essence Concentrate

The EX90 is the first Volvo vehicle equipped with a centralized computing system. Specifically, the onboard computer is built around NVIDIA Drive AI technology and Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Cockpit platform. All of this works in synergy to manage the vehicle’s key functions, from safety to infotainment and battery management.

But at Volvo, safety has always been the main selling point, sometimes at the expense of aesthetics. Passive and active safety technologies and software make the EX90, according to the manufacturer, the safest Volvo ever produced. It is based on a next-generation electric-native platform, offering a range of up to 614 km. A little treat for music lovers, the car offers an intriguing “Abbey Road Studios” mode as an option, which is paired with the premium Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
