Tesla Cybertruck: the new hubcaps provide increased range

Several months after the controversy over the hubcaps that damaged its tires, the Tesla Cybertruck offers a model that guarantees more range.

One does not lose business sense at Tesla. Now, due to the crisis affecting the Californian manufacturer, which announced a third wave of massive layoffs (bringing the total number of employees laid off to about 20%), a dollar is a dollar.

Also, the comical episode (let’s be honest) of the hubcaps developed by design engineers, which cost millions of dollars in R&D and unnecessarily wore down the sides of the tires to the point of compromising their integrity, here comes Tesla with a second solution for its Cybertruck.

The first was a band-aid on a wooden leg, a design (which illustrates this article) frankly ugly for a car currently sold for more than 100,000 dollars in its launch version. Small diameter, poor quality, the result on such an imposing vehicle was grotesque.

Weeks passed and Tesla revised its approach and returns with a more mature and aesthetic solution. Alas, this is not offered to customers: it is a question. The art of commerce according to Elon Musk.

More range!

To ease the pill, Tesla defends itself with the promise of increased range thanks to its new 20-inch hubcaps. Certainly, but Tesla forgets to mention that the promised range from the Cybertruck has never been honored. Elegance would have suggested that these hubcaps be offered to meet the commercial promise of range…

The second argument is that this new hubcap comes with a more efficient tire fit in terms of energy consumption. Thus, the overall range would increase by 22 miles (35 km) on the Cybertruck and Cybertruck All Wheel-Drive versions. As for the Cyberbeast version, the gain would be limited to 19 miles (30 km).
