Ford Explorer Long Range discounted to less than €40,000
Ford offers, until the end of 2025, a discount of €4,000 on its Explorer range, making the extended range version very appealing.
Are you eager to buy your future electric car? If so, then switch to “negotiator” mode, because dealerships won’t let you leave without selling you a car as we enter the final sprint of 2025. There are sales targets to meet, stocks to clear, and model years to dispose of.
This logic is as old as the Automobile, but it is particularly reinforced this year by the promise, confirmed by the French government, to increase the amount of the CEE Grant for purchasing an electric car starting January 1, 2026. And the increase in this aid is significant: €3,500 for all households, €4,700 for so-called “modest but not precarious” households, and up to €5,700 for precarious households.
Additionally, if the vehicle of your choice meets a super environmental score (produced in Europe and battery assembled in Europe as well), an ecological bonus of €1,200 to €2,000 may apply. This is the case for the Ford Explorer featured in this article.

A record price for 600 km of range!
Indeed, Ford is struggling to sell its Explorer. However, the product is very successful as it is based on the exact platform of the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5. The same goes for the Ford Capri, which has a sportier design (but is more expensive…).
The Explorer is becoming slightly less expensive each month, with its entry-level version now down to €35,900… before CEE Grant. This equates to less than €33,000 for any buyer. However, the range remains limited with a real-world range of 350 km.
Our focus is now rather on the so-called RWD Extended Range version, the Long Range Propulsion as per Tesla‘s terminology. The battery now boasts 77 kWh and the power is 286 horsepower. The rear axle torque reaches 545 Nm, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
Here, the range climbs to 602 km in the mixed WLTP cycle, or 500 km without issues. Initially, the list price was €46,990, but it has now been trimmed to €42,900.
Once the CEE Grant is applied, the price consistently falls below the symbolic threshold of €40,000 including tax. This is much less than a Tesla Model Y Long Range Propulsion priced at €42,990 after the CEE Grant deduction, which is indeed better equipped and more efficient. But not everyone has that much money to spend on a car…
