Hydrogen: the Hyundai-Air Liquide duo in action
The two companies confirm their role as leaders in the hydrogen sector and aim for the development of a global ecosystem.
Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) and Air Liquide have announced the strengthening of their strategic partnership to support the growth of the hydrogen economy on a global scale. This renewal was formalized at the World CEO Summit of Hydrogen Council members, held in Seoul from December 2 to 4, 2025.

The partnership covers the entire hydrogen chain: production, storage, transport, and utilization. It plans for the development of low-carbon infrastructures and energy solutions in Europe, the United States, and South Korea. The collaboration extends beyond mobility to include logistics and industrial applications, thereby contributing to the global energy transition.
Concrete actions, not empty talk
In South Korea, the partnership has already produced concrete results. Hyundai has deployed more than 2,000 hydrogen buses and 37,000 fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), with an extension planned by the end of 2026. Advanced refueling stations have been established through Hynet and Kohygen, and Air Liquide inaugurated the Lotte-Air Liquide Ener’Hy center in Daesan, the largest bottling site at 450 bars in the country, providing competitive solutions to meet growing demand.

The planned initiatives include:
- Consolidation of infrastructures: development of refueling networks and storage capacities.
- Reliable supply chain: production, transport, and distribution of low-carbon and renewable hydrogen.
- Deployment of hydrogen mobility: commercialization of FCEVs for logistics fleets, public transport, and port activities.
As co-chairs of the Hydrogen Council, Hyundai and Air Liquide promote international cooperation, industrial standardization, and public policies to accelerate the global development of hydrogen. This collaboration aims to strengthen the use of hydrogen as an alternative energy source and to support decarbonization efforts on a global scale.
