Polestar Integrates a Driving Assistance System That Is Both Simple and Ingenious

Polestar becomes the first manufacturer to integrate Google Maps’ new live lane guidance on its models.

The Sino-Swedish brand Polestar is offering starting today the brand-new Google Maps live lane guidance function directly on the driver’s screen of its vehicles. This innovation, powered by artificial intelligence, will debut on the Polestar 4 before being extended to other models.

Presented on November 4, 2025, this evolution of the famous navigation service provides real-time lane visualization on the 10.2-inch screen facing the driver. The system identifies the exact lane taken by the car by analyzing road markings and traffic signs captured by one of the vehicle’s front cameras. This information is then combined with Google Maps navigation data to offer precise visual and audible directions, especially during lane changes on highways or in heavy traffic.

Less stress behind the wheel

This integration fits within Polestar’s UX strategy, focused on the driver. The goal: to reduce stress while driving and improve safety by limiting late maneuvers or missed exits. “Live lane guidance extends our approach aimed at making driving more intuitive and calm,” explains Sid Odedra, head of user interface and driving experience at Polestar.

As often with the manufacturer, the new feature will be deployed via a remote over-the-air (OTA) software update, without the need for a workshop visit. It will first arrive on Polestar 4 models sold in the United States and Sweden, before being extended to other markets.
