Mercedes accelerates its electric transition with the launch of the eActros 400, a derivative version of the eActros 600.

This electric heavy truck, unveiled in Molsheim, France, significantly broadens Mercedes’ offerings by providing over 40 configurations to meet the specific needs of carriers, whether for long-distance transportation or regional distribution.

The eActros 400 stands out for its modularity: two LFP battery packs totaling 414 kWh offer up to 480 km of range depending on the mission type and driving style. Lighter than the eActros 600, it boasts a payload capacity of over 25 tons, rivaling diesel trucks. The tractor version with the L classic cab or the new ProCabin ensures comfort, ergonomics, and aerodynamics, while multiple wheelbases and axle configurations allow for adaptation to all situations.

Technology, safety, fast charging, and energy efficiency

Like the eActros 600, the new eActros 400 features an eAxle electric axle with two motors and a four-speed transmission, providing up to 600 kW peak power. The Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 is equipped in all cabins, with touch and voice controls for navigation, range management, and charging. Advanced assistance systems – MirrorCam, Active Brake Assist 6, Sideguard Assist 2 – enhance safety and facilitate driving in urban or long-distance environments.

The eActros 400 can be charged up to 400 kW via a standard CCS2 socket, allowing it to go from 10 to 80% charge in 46 minutes, while the eActros 600 reaches 621 kWh for more demanding missions. Mercedes-Benz Trucks is also developing the European TruckCharge network, aiming for more than 3,000 fast-charging stations by 2030 to support electric truck mobility.

A credible alternative to diesel trucks

According to Achim Puchert, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks: “The eActros 600 proves that long-distance electric transport is a reality. For the transition to succeed, infrastructure must keep pace, and operations must remain profitable for our customers.” With the launch of the eActros 400, Mercedes-Benz Trucks offers a more affordable, flexible, and high-performing solution, providing range, payload, and comfort that meet the demands of modern carriers.
