The Mercedes eActros 600 Electric Triumphs in the Arctic Circle
A Mercedes eActros 600 reaches the North Cape for the first time, demonstrating the capabilities of long-distance electric trucks.
The Mercedes eActros 600 marks a historic milestone by becoming the first battery-electric truck to participate in and successfully complete the eNordkapp Challenge, a long-distance rally for 100% electric vehicles. The 2026 edition of this exceptional route covered approximately 8,000 kilometers, from Germany to the North Cape in Norway, the northernmost point in Europe accessible by road.

Held annually since 2018 at the end of December, the eNordkapp Challenge tests the reliability and performance of electric vehicles in extreme conditions. This year, the expedition took participants through Germany, Denmark, and central Sweden, using the Inlandsvägen highway. For ten days, the eActros 600 faced temperatures as low as -41°C while transporting a car-carrying semi-trailer with a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, resulting in a total loaded weight of 32.5 tons.
Versatile
The truck, provided by VEGA International CarTransport & LogisticTrading GmbH, participated with virtually no modifications, except for special tires for polar conditions. The stops to recharge the battery did not hinder the vehicle’s performance: the team had to manage uncouplings, short charging cables, and frozen card readers at the stations.

“The eActros 600 is a true workhorse for us, reliable even in the most difficult conditions,” said Herbert Salentinig, the expedition driver.
