Ultra-Fast Charging: Fastned Speeds Up in France

New competitor to Ionity, the fast charging network Fastned displays great ambitions for its expansion in France.
Fastned Attacks from the South
One month after officially opening its first stations in France, the Dutch operator announces that it has won 3 new tenders, this time from the South France Motorways (ASF), a subsidiary of Vinci Autoroutes.
Fastned assures that the 3 new stations will be built and opened by the end of 2022, each equipped directly with 8 chargers, instead of 4, with some stations eventually expanding to 8 chargers.
Since inaugurating its first 4 stations on November 30, 2021, Fastned has opened 2 more, and it announces that it will open the last 2 stations from the first tender in the coming weeks.

120 Tenders
Fastned has thus planned a network of 12 stations at this stage. It’s not a large number, but they emphasize that this is just the beginning. The operator has indeed announced that it has responded to tenders covering “about one-third” of France’s 360 motorway service areas. This aligns with the Ministry of Ecological Transition’s plan to equip each service area with a charging station by the end of 2022.
To conclude, it is worth noting that Fastned deploys covered stations with canopies, featuring chargers delivering up to 300 kW at peak, and easy payment options by credit card, among other advantages. We invite you to read our first article to learn more about this operator.
