Peugeot 3008 and Citroën C5 Aircross: the hybrid offerings expand
This page is translated from the original post "Peugeot 3008 et Citroën C5 Aircross : l’offre hybride s’élargit" in French.

Based on the same platform, the Peugeot 3008 and the Citroën C5 Aircross both receive a new plug-in hybrid system of 180 hp.
Already used on the 308 and the Opel Astra, this electrified powertrain only drives the front wheels. It operates with a 150 hp petrol four-cylinder engine, combined with a single 110 hp electric motor. The combined output delivers 180 hp and a torque of 360 Nm. Gear changes are handled by an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The 180 hp hybrids are equipped with an 11.3 kWh lithium-ion battery. In theory, it guarantees an electric range of 59 km on the 3008, and 58 km on the C5 Aircross (WLTP cycle).
A diminished hybrid version to mask a new price increase
On the Peugeot 3008 side, this new 180 hp version fits into an offer that already included two other plug-in hybrid models, of 225 and 300 hp. The Citroën C5 Aircross is also available with the 225 hp system but has never been offered with the 300 hp version.
In these older versions, the battery capacity was increased to 14.2 kWh gross (from 13.2 previously). The electric-only driving range has thus increased by a few kilometers (up to 65 km for the 3008 PHEV 225).
These changes are accompanied by a general increase in prices. This affects both the Peugeot 3008 and the Citroën C5 Aircross. The new 180 hp hybrid versions are almost sold at the price of the 225 hp hybrids before this price hike. Expect a minimum of €46,520 for the Peugeot 3008. The C5 Aircross starts at €43,650. Both vehicles are eligible for a €1,000 eco bonus.
