Fastned Ioniq 5 recharge Vinci

Provided by Fastned, these new chargers can deliver up to 300 kW and will enable very fast charging.

Electric vehicle infrastructure is developing steadily but surely. This time, Vinci announces the arrival of 4 new rapid charging stations on its highways. The installations are supplied by Fastned, a Dutch company specialized in manufacturing rapid chargers. Capable of delivering up to 300 KW, they will allow owners of certain electric cars to regain a significant amount of range in a short time. A Kia EV6, which accepts a maximum charging power of 272 kW, could theoretically go from 10 to 80 % in 18 minutes on such chargers.

The stations are sheltered by the characteristic canopy of Fastned installations. Each one has 8 charging points. Payment can be made either via the Fastned app or by credit card at dedicated terminals. As a reminder, Fastned charges 59 cents per kWh.

The chargers are equipped with CCS, Type 2, and CHAdeMO connectors. They feature a so-called “Autocharge” functionality, which can automatically start vehicle charging as soon as it is plugged in. However, be aware that this does not work with all electric models.

Where are the new chargers located?

The new stations are located on the A9, A89, A72, and A20 motorways. They are present at the following rest areas:

  • Ambrussum Nord (A9), between Montpellier and Nîmes
  • Saint-Laurent du Manoire, (A89) in the Périgueux region
  • Plains of Forez East (A72), towards Saint-Etienne
  • Jardin des Causses du Lot (A20), between Brive and Cahors

Vinci has committed to placing chargers at all its highway rest areas by 2023. The company estimates that it will thus have 1,500 charging points in service.
