The Toyota Prius sees its price drop to €41,900

Undoubtedly the most advanced and economical plug-in hybrid car in the world, the Toyota Prius adjusts its price and becomes more attractive.

The truth of one day is not the same the next. Too expensive at launch in early 2023, especially compared to a Tesla Model 3 “phase 1” already less costly (at €41,990) and discounted by €5,000, the relevance of the Japanese model was not obvious.

Since then, the American is no longer eligible for the bonus and its starting price has increased by €1,000… while the Toyota Prius has decreased by €2,000. To the point of finally questioning whether the Japanese model has, all at once, become the perfect car. Electric for daily use thanks to its 12.6 kWh battery which guarantees 86 km of range without consuming a single drop of fuel, and thermal for long trips with its 40-liter tank.

Thanks to its ultra-aerodynamic design, the consumption of the 2.0-liter, 223 hp engine remains very low in all circumstances.

For €41,990, you have to settle for the entry-level version, the Dynamic trim with 17-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors, navigation, and heated front seats. The exterior color will be night blue, others vary from €700 to €950.

If you are now more inclined toward electric, then the fiercest rival to this Toyota Prius today is the Renault Scenic. And starting at €34,990, the French SUV has made a bold move… and reawakened the question of the Prius’s relevance. What a cruel world.
