Mazda CX-80

Following the launch of the CX-60, the new Mazda CX-80 with three rows of seats makes its debut on the European scene.

As part of Mazda’s latest evolution of the Kodo design language, the brand’s designers aimed to prioritize elegance and the purity of minimalist Japanese aesthetics, which seeks to eliminate all superfluous elements. To achieve this, they relied on the practical approach of the brand’s master artisans, whose goal is to produce vehicles that could only have been created in Japan, specifically at the historic Hiroshima plant. The result is a versatile look that, without being outdated, does not convey a strong sense of modernity.

With a length of nearly five meters and a wheelbase of over three meters, the new Mazda CX-80 emphasizes interior space. Paired with its two flat-folding third-row seats, the CX-80 will offer three different configurations for its second row of seats, including two large comfort seats separated by either a central console or an access passage to the third row.

Priority on Hybrid at Mazda

At launch, the CX-80 will be available with two engine options paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Mazda’s proprietary i-Activ all-wheel drive system. Primarily, a plug-in hybrid e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain, combining an electric motor with a four-cylinder gasoline engine, is expected to account for most sales in France. A diesel version will be available as well, featuring a six-cylinder inline engine paired with Mazda’s M Hybrid Boost system, a 48V mild hybrid setup. Despite low emissions of 148-151 g/km, the nearly 2,000 euros in tax penalties are likely to limit its appeal to only very frequent drivers.

Pre-orders for the new Mazda CX-80 will begin in May, and the vehicle will be available at dealerships from fall 2024 starting at 63,100 euros.
