Relooké, the Lamborghini Urus also switches to plug-in hybrid
This page is translated from the original post "Relooké, le Lamborghini Urus passe aussi à l’hybride rechargeable" in French.

A few months after his cousin the Porsche Cayenne which shares its platform, the Lamborghini Urus is shaping its lines and moving to hybrid technology.
Hybrid or electric sports cars are now current. And if we want to make the beautiful and powerful cars that make us dream acceptable, there’s no choice but to electrify them. Thus, after years without the obligation to electrify its range due to insufficient production volume, Lamborghini is now fully committed to this technology.
In fact, it is even requested by its customers who, for an increasing segment, want to reduce their carbon footprint while enjoying themselves. And that is precisely Lamborghini’s positioning, which, when presenting its new Urus restyled and hybridized, never mentions the reduced fuel consumption. All focus is on driving pleasure, with fuel efficiency being logical… and therefore secondary. A simple line is dedicated to this: in mixed cycle and “cool” driving, CO2 emissions will drop by 80%! (Applause)

60 km on electric
With its 25.9 kWh battery, the new Urus SE plug-in hybrid, with subtly more streamlined features, will therefore be able to travel 60 km without emitting CO2. But the Italian manufacturer quickly reassures its audience: thanks to electric assistance, power now rises to 800 horsepower and torque to 950 Nm!
The 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo, shared with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, alone develops 620 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. The 192-horsepower electric motor with 483 Nm supports full-load acceleration. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint is done in 3.4 seconds and 200 km/h is reached in 11.2 seconds! In both cases, it’s better than the 100% thermal Urus S version. The top speed is set at 312 km/h.
Lamborghini makes a big step toward political correctness, and sometimes that’s not a bad thing.
