What is the MG EHS Hybrid worth at 399€ per month?

The plug-in hybrid MG EHS SUV, which underwent a facelift in 2023, receives a €5,000 purchase bonus.

Launched three years ago on the European market, the Anglo-Chinese MG EHS SUV has struggled to carve out a space in the sun. European competitors didn’t wait to take their share of the hybrid plug-in market, or rather the lion’s share. So MG decided to give it an extreme makeover in 2023 to bring it up to date. Since then, a lot has changed, and the plug-in hybrid, once overshadowed by full electric vehicles, is back in fashion. Offering up to 52 km of WLTP all-electric range thanks to a 16.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, it can handle daily trips 100% electrically while providing the peace of mind of a thermal engine for longer journeys.

Measuring 4.61 meters in length, 1.69 meters in height, 1.88 meters in width, and with a 2.72-meter wheelbase, it is perfectly versatile for both city and countryside driving. Under the hood, it features a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine rated at 119 kW/162 hp combined with a 90 kW/122 hp electric motor and 230 Nm of torque. With a combined power of 190 kW/258 hp and a maximum torque of 370 Nm, the EHS displays a lively performance with 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 6.9 seconds.

A Beneficial Update

And MG has paid particular attention to its only plug-in hybrid during the latest facelift. The look, while not spectacular, is modern and appealing with redesigned bumpers, LED technology headlights, and specific alloy wheels.

Inside, the MG EHS features a modest but comprehensive multimedia system with a responsive interface. Standard equipment includes: air conditioning, connected GPS, rearview camera, keyless entry and start, 12.3″ digital instrument cluster, 10.1″ digital screen, full LED headlights, and traditional driver assistance features (pedestrian detection, blind spot detection, active emergency braking, etc.). The materials are of quality to ensure it isn’t overshadowed by segment leaders like the Peugeot 3008.

However, the true advantage of this EHS is, of course, like all good MGs, its price. With the “MG Electric Bonus” of €5,000, it now starts at €399 per month in long-term rental (49 months and 40,000 km without a down payment). This is surely the last long-term promotion for this vehicle, as in four years it will probably be truly outdated…
