Stock MG EHS

Normally, when a manufacturer updates a model, it clears out the last examples of the previous one. Not MG apparently.

MG has just unveiled its new EHS plug-in hybrid. A thoroughly revamped model that comes with a 21.4 kWh battery compared to 16.6 kWh for the previous iteration, doubling the 100% electric range to over 100 km. Under the hood, a new powertrain with a combined output of 326 hp. In a small revolution in the wonderful world of hybridization, the electric block is now dominant with 184 hp compared to only 142 hp from the internal combustion unit.

The revolution is also exterior with 45 mm longer and 14 mm wider, but 45 mm shorter in height. Longer, wider, and lower, all the ingredients are in place for a much more dynamic look. The design brings it closer to the very successful Marvel R, while the lighting signature also gets a little refresh with markers borrowed from its little hybrid sister, the MG3.

New improvements overshadowing the old at MG

Let me tell you, it’s not just a case of aging but indeed a shock that the old model, which was revamped in 2023, is experiencing. Certainly, at Mobiwisy, we love to track enormous discounts on such models. Not for the mere pleasure of buying an inferior product, but for the benefit of paying less for a car that is far from being outdated, which is the case with the current EHS. But it has to be significantly cheaper!

Exactly a year ago, the restyled EHS was integrated into the catalog of the Sino-British brand at a starting price of 35,490 euros for the base version. Today, this model starts at… 32,990 euros. Just a 2,500 euro discount for an outdated model is almost unheard of.

But a 2,500 euro discount is still something. And it would be very surprising if the new EHS does not exceed 35,000 euros significantly, and might even approach 40,000 euros. We know that MG has focused all its efforts on building up stocks of electric cars to counter the rising customs fees. Therefore, there are very few hybrids in stock in France, precisely 86 when we wrote this article. There’s no need to disrupt the launch of the new model with a liquidation. However, don’t forget that it’s the dealers who set the true prices. And we can assure you that negotiating for less than 30,000 euros is possible.
