The new MG EHS promises exceptional value for money

MG renews its hybrid SUV EHS by modernizing it and emphasizing electric power under the hood.

The new MG EHS is not an evolution of its predecessor but a completely new car. Larger and wider, it enhances its appearance with standard 19-inch diamond alloy wheels, heated exterior mirrors that are adjustable and foldable electrically with memory, and fog lights. Inside, the driver now benefits from a 6-way electric seat with lumbar adjustment. A 360° panoramic camera and an 8-speaker audio system complete this attractive basic offer.

The redesigned dashboard features two 12.3-inch screens. The central screen is dedicated to infotainment with updated navigation services including weather and real-time traffic information. It naturally includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. However, there is no provision for smartphone wireless charging.

Beautiful outside, good inside

The driver’s screen offers two themes, light and dark, and three distinct modes. You can choose to focus on classic road information, navigation, or managing driving assistance, the famous ADAS. With their increasing prevalence, this is not a bad idea as it allows them to be adapted to road conditions without having to take your eyes off the road to access the main menu on the central screen.

The trunk capacity now reaches 441 liters, and passenger space increases despite an overall height reduction of 22 mm. Five body finish options are available: White Pearl, Black Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, Hampstead Grey Metallic, and Dynamic Red.

If MG can keep its price around 35,000 euros, this EHS should have no trouble finding its audience. However, a bit of education will be needed regarding the advantages of plug-in hybrid power systems, as there is difficulty attracting customers hesitant to abandon fully thermal options, somewhat fearful of having to find charging solutions.
