Recharge IKEA

The best way to find a good parking space at IKEA is now to have a car to charge!

The Swedes at IKEA have truly understood everything. People of all ages and from all seasons visit IKEA for its DIY furniture. DIY means Do It Yourself, an acronym to remember as it’s very trendy. But it’s impossible to leave with only flat-pack furniture when you pop into a store. Besides the famous meatballs, hot dogs, and €1 ice creams to calm the kids down, the good news for this back-to-school season is the new electric charging stations set up by the Swedish giant.

IKEA Well Connected

As part of its environmental initiative to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2030, IKEA is installing electric charging stations in the parking lots of all its stores for the visitors. This initiative is commendable and deserves recognition, but it primarily allows the flat-pack furniture king to comply with the Mobility Orientation Law (LOM), which promotes electric mobility in France.

Each store will soon have at least 20 electric charging stations and the icing on the cinnamon roll, the famous Swedish Gifflar, they are generally located very close to the entrances and exits! There is nothing particularly exceptional in terms of technology, as IKEA has chosen to invest in 7 kWh chargers with a maximum charge time of 1 hour. The goal of this setup is to allow visitors to charge their electric vehicle battery during their store visit so they can return home with enough range. In fact, it doesn’t matter because it allows you to regain the kilometers used for travel on an average basis of 50 km, and you will be ideally parked.

IKEA has chosen IZIVIA as a partner for this service, allowing most charging cards to be used at the stations at rates that are somewhat high but well known.
