BMW delivers internal combustion cars… by electric truck
This page is translated from the original post "BMW livre ses voitures thermiques… en camion électrique" in French.

This BMW trial aims to assess the impact of 100% electric delivery routes in urban and suburban environments.
Since September, CEVA Logistics has been handling the delivery of new BMW and MINI vehicles to its network of partners in the Paris region using an electric-powered car carrier. A subsidiary of CMA CGM, the logistics company already operates over 450 electric trucks for other logistical activities across Europe in its fleet. However, this is one of the very first vehicles of its kind used in Europe. Battery recharging can be carried out if needed between runs, but the goal is to perform a single charge each evening at the central platform in Marly-la-Ville, equipped with a dedicated charging station.
The experiment aims to evaluate the relevance of this technology on a daily 270 km route. It extends until the end of the first quarter of 2025, after which a comprehensive assessment will be conducted. The results of this pilot, based on telematics data collected during the test, and the analysis to be conducted will be crucial for the project’s continuation. BMW aims to expand this solution more broadly, but it is certain that the French branch of the brand will do so wisely.
BMW’s ambition, more or less driven by legislation, is to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% per vehicle across the entire value chain by 2030. Reducing emissions in various operations of delivering new vehicles while maintaining the flexibility of road transport is logically a key challenge.
