Cowboy Electric Bicycles Will Be Assembled in France

Cowboy, one of the most present brands in the e-bike market, will relocate its production to assemble 14,000 to 18,000 bikes in France
It all started with the acquisition by the Group Rebirth (Solex, Matra, Coleen) of Cycleurope France. This factory, where iconic Peugeot and Gitane bikes are assembled, is changing its name and becoming Re-Cycles France. The group will also increase production by adding the assembly of Belgian Cowboy bikes. And to do this, it is increasing its workforce. “We recruited 11 people this week, and 8 more are expected to join us before the end of the year”, said Grégory Trébaol, CEO of Rebirth, on Canal 32.

The Belgian brand wanted to move its production to France and found a buyer. Re-Cycles will therefore assemble Cowboy bikes in addition to Gitane and Peugeot. The goal is to assemble 14,000 to 18,000 bikes annually to supplement the remaining production. The Rebirth group also plans to modernize the factory with new arrangements. These renovations are estimated to cost around one million euros.
This production adds to the assembly of Easybike, Matra, Coleen, Solex, Mobiky, and Mobicity bikes at the Saint-Lô manufacturing site. But that’s not all, as the Rebirth group also plans to build a new factory in Romilly-Sur-Seine over 25,000 m². Construction has been postponed from 2026 to 2027, possibly due to uncertainties surrounding the Bike Plan. Ultimately, the group aims to produce 200,000 to 250,000 bikes per year, targeting 10 to 12% of the French bike market and competing with giants like Intersport and Decathlon.
