Verge and the Electric Scooter for Everyone

Verge Motorcycles launches Verge Next, a technological platform aimed at simplifying the manufacturing of electric scooters and mopeds.

This initiative by Verge aims to provide manufacturers worldwide with a comprehensive solution to develop more efficient and innovative electric vehicles. The first scooter integrating this platform will be unveiled in November at the EICMA Milan motorcycle show.

The Verge Next B2B unit offers licenses for a technology that combines components and software. According to the company, this approach enables the design of an electric scooter more quickly and cost-effectively than traditional methods. “Verge Next’s technological platform responds to industry needs and presents an opportunity to develop less polluting mobility solutions,” says Tuomo Lehtimäki, CEO of Verge Motorcycles and head of Verge Next. Several companies have already expressed interest since the unit’s launch in spring, and some collaborations are underway.

The wheel motor is making its way

The integrated donut motor in the tire, a core element of the platform, is available on 12-inch wheels with power outputs ranging from 2 to 15 kW and maximum torque between 80 and 350 Nm, depending on the version. The platform also includes a battery module suitable for compact vehicles, management software, and versatile screens. All components are designed to work together but can also be used separately, for example by integrating the donut motor into an existing vehicle.
