Rosenbauer Unveils the Panther 6×6, an Electric Fire Truck Designed to Extinguish Fires at Airports.

In the United States, police have their electric vehicles, so why not firefighters? Moreover, this vehicle is Austrian and could soon be stationed at our airports. It is manufactured by Rosenbauer, which is innovating by offering an electric version of its Panther 6×6 fire truck.

Panther 6×6, more electric or thermal?

12,000 liters of water, 1,450 liters of special foam, and 250 kg of powder are the maximum storage capacities of the Panther 6×6, available in both electric and thermal versions. The truck weighs over 42 tons, raising the question of how electric motors could provide it with a decent operational capacity. Well, that’s where the electric fire truck impresses.

Its four electric motors reach a power of 980 horsepower, and even 1200 when the boost mode is active. The 0 to 80 km/h acceleration is achieved in less than 20 seconds. negligible compared to race cars, but for a vehicle of this size, it’s impressive. Rosenbauer even conducted a race between the two versions of its Panther 6×6. The video is available on YouTube.

For speed, it’s good, but what about range? The electric Panther doesn’t work miracles, but that’s also why it’s currently intended for airport use. Its range is not yet known, but Rosenbauer assures it will be sufficient for its intended purpose. In case of an emergency, it’s equipped with a small diesel generator called “Energy Backup System”. Its fast charger will allow it to recharge to 100% in 45 minutes.

To see it at our airports, we’ll have to wait until late 2025. Orders are available, but the price has not yet been disclosed.
