Volvo FH16

Magical technology, the new Volvo FH16 is both more powerful and more fuel-efficient than before.

The road transport sector has undergone a profound re-evaluation in recent years. The reduction of pollutant emissions and fuel consumption is at the center of concerns. It should be noted that less fuel consumed means certainly less CO2 in the atmosphere, but above all, savings at the pump.

The Volvo FH16 thus achieves the paradox of being even more powerful than its predecessor while being more economical. Even better: with its 17-liter displacement (you read that right), and its acceptance of 100% renewable fuels, this new engine consumes -5% less diesel, and the torque increases by 7% compared to the previous engine. The power is now set at 780 horsepower, which is an increase of 30 horsepower.

Three power levels

The new Euro 6 engine from Volvo is available in three power levels: 600 hp, 700 hp, and 780 hp. The torque levels have been increased to 3000 Nm, 3400 Nm, and 3800 Nm in the top version. The gearbox has been updated to handle up to 3800 Nm, and the internal efficiency of the gearbox has been further improved in the 3000 Nm and 3400 Nm versions.

The new D17 engine is certified to operate with HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) in all power levels. The 700 hp version is also certified to run on 100% biodiesel (B100).

The Volvo FH16 and the FH16 Aero with the all-new D17 engine will be available for order starting mid-2024, and production will commence in the second half of 2024.
