More autonomy and all-wheel drive for Volkswagen commercial vehicles

Volkswagen enhances its electric utility vehicles with increased range, fast charging, and intelligent all-wheel drive.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles strengthens its electric range by optimizing its e-Transporter and e-Caravelle models. The goal: to offer professionals a more efficient, safer, and environmentally friendly daily mobility.

The most notable innovation lies in the traction battery, with useful capacity increasing from 64 kWh to 70 kWh. This advancement allows both models to cover up to 371 km under WLTP conditions, representing an increase of nearly 13% compared to previous versions. This enhanced range is accompanied by faster charging thanks to an optimized direct current curve: at a 125 kW charging station, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in about 30 minutes, nearly ten minutes less than before. In practice, a quick stop of ten minutes adds nearly 100 km of range, providing valuable flexibility for professional trips.

All-Wheel Drive

Safety and traction are also improved with the option of intelligent all-wheel drive 4Motion. This system combines the classic rear motor with an additional electric motor at the front, allowing for instantaneous torque distribution between the two axles as needed. On wet roads, unpaved paths, or rough sites, the vehicle thus maintains optimal stability, enhanced by ESP and traction control. The electric Transporter can be configured in two power levels: 100 kW (136 hp) or 210 kW (286 hp), offering a balance between performance and energy efficiency.
