IVECO sources from Hyundai

Hyundai will supply a fully electric light commercial vehicle in Europe based on its Global eLCV platform to IVECO.

Hyundai and IVECO announced the signing of a supply agreement for a 100% electric light commercial vehicle under the IVECO brand, based on Hyundai’s Global eLCV platform. This new vehicle will join the manufacturer’s range of electric light commercial vehicles, thus strengthening the group’s lineup alongside the iconic Daily and its electric twin, eDaily.

Hyundai and IVECO launched their partnership in March 2022 and have since taken the first steps towards this union centered around hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, including the eDaily FCEV (fuel cell electric vehicle) and the E-WAY FCEV urban bus. The new agreement signifies an expansion of their collaboration into battery electric vehicles.

This vehicle, which will be marketed under the IVECO brand, will be the first model based on Hyundai’s new global light electric commercial vehicle platform, eLCV, a dedicated worldwide platform designed for electric commercial vehicles ranging from 2.5 to 3.5 tons GVW. The innovative platform incorporates Hyundai’s latest technology for next-generation battery electric vehicles, with a lowered floor design that facilitates loading and transporting goods.

As part of this partnership, Hyundai will manufacture and supply the cab chassis bearing the IVECO logo for the European market, and IVECO will customize and locally distribute the complete vehicles exclusively through its sales channels. This new vehicle will be launched this year at the IAA Transportation 2024 exhibition, which will be held from September 16 to 22, 2024, in Hanover, Germany.
