Nissan adds a new feature to its NissanConnect smartphone app: vehicle tracking in case of theft.

Nissan will introduce a vehicle tracking feature in case of theft (Stolen Vehicle Tracking, SVT) within the NissanConnect Services app in France starting March 2024.

The theft tracking service is offered as a subscription in collaboration with Vodafone Automotive, Nissan’s service provider. It allows to track and locate vehicles via embedded GPS. The service provider will work with law enforcement to monitor the vehicle and coordinate its recovery. At the request of authorities, the engine contact can be remotely cut by the operator to facilitate vehicle retrieval.

The theft vehicle tracking service will be available from March for Nissan Ariya and Nissan Qashqai manufactured since June 2022, as well as for X-Trail models produced since September 2022. If compatible, vehicle owners can activate the subscription for €99 for 12 months of enhanced security.

Advantages:

  • Proactive guidance: Instant notifications are sent if the vehicle is towed without the owner’s knowledge. The owner can then follow the app’s instructions to recover the vehicle.
  • Cross-border assistance: The system operates seamlessly across a wide European network, ensuring communication in the local language between call center operators and police, as well as between call operators and customers.
  • Direct contact with law enforcement: Communication is direct with authorities involved in law enforcement in Europe to share tracking information and assist in recovering the vehicle.
  • Remote deactivation of contact: In certain situations, law enforcement may request the engine contact to be cut to facilitate recovery. Operators collaborate to make this process as smooth as possible.
