Fastned simplifies fast electric charging in the mountains

Fastned consolidates its high-power charging network in the Alpine region to support the rise of winter electric travel.

Fastned continues the deployment of its fast charging infrastructure in mountainous areas, a strategic territory for electric mobility in Europe. The operator announces that it has 15 ultra-fast charging stations spread across the transalpine region, covering France, Switzerland, and Italy. In total, nearly 80 charging points of at least 300 kW are now operational along the main highways leading to major ski resorts.

This presence aims to address the seasonal increase in the flow of electric travelers, particularly pronounced during the winter. To support these periods of high traffic, Fastned is resuming in France the “charging captains” initiative. These agents are tasked with assisting users on-site, optimizing the rotation at charging stations, and minimizing wait times during peak hours.

Fast and Efficient

The company also highlights the reliability of its network, with an availability rate exceeding 99% across all its stations. Fastned additionally offers a pricing plan accessible via its mobile app, allowing a 10% discount on the price per kWh with direct digital payment.

With major winter sporting events approaching in Northern Italy, where several hundred thousand visitors are expected, the issue of low-carbon travel takes on particular significance. High-power charging infrastructures thus serve as a lever to promote the use of electric vehicles over long distances, even in mountainous environments.
