If there are no authorized Tesla dealers or resellers on the entire African continent, 6 cities are finally equipped with charging stations.

Tesla still has entire continents to conquer. South America has little to boast about, with only Chile having a dealership in Santiago… and absolutely no Superchargers. To convince yourself, as of August 15, 2024, scrolling through the map listing all Tesla service and charging points is an amusing activity.

Back to the vast African continent, whose population is estimated at 1.6 billion people. And among them, none are deemed suitable to purchase a Tesla, as no sales or service point is listed in the Tesla directory. This includes South Africa, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, or Egypt, countries that are quite developed and have a quality road network.

24 Tesla charging stations across Africa

Enough suspense. The entirety of Tesla charging stations is concentrated in a tiny portion of the 30.37 million km² that represents the area of Africa. They are all located in Morocco and are spread across the six main cities of the country.

The setup is always the same: 4 charging stations with a maximum of 150 kW. Hence, they can be found in Tangier, Fes, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir.

It is gratifying to note that the location of these stations allows for coverage throughout the highly populated area of Morocco without any problem, sometimes requiring a quick stop to reach the most distant points, such as Agadir and Tangier, which are 835 kilometers apart.

Finally, more stations, outside the Tesla network, will quickly develop in Morocco, but also in Africa. This is just the beginning of the story.
