Major player in the cycling industry for nearly 140 years, PEUGEOT Cycles will launch a new range of connected electric assist bicycles.

Standing out in a highly saturated market where new products flood in is not easy. In 2022, the European market absorbed 5.5 million bicycles, with one in four being electric, representing an overall growth of 8.6%.

Founded in 1885, Peugeot Cycles has been operated under license by Cycleurope Industries, which designs, manufactures, and distributes the entire existing range, including Junior, Trekking, City, and Mountain bikes, with or without electric assistance.

By the end of 2023 and early 2024, Peugeot Cycles will expand its range with several models featuring very distinctive and connected designs. The specially developed app for these products offers adaptive electric assistance based on the terrain, anti-theft system, alarm, bike geolocation, real-time navigation, weather forecasts for the destination, as well as trip statistics, and more.

Three architectures will be marketed here:

  • City bike
  • “Longtail” cargo bike, featuring an extended rear allowing it to carry up to two children or a load
  • “Bi-porter” cargo bike with an extended front wheelbase to accommodate a box capable of transporting up to three children or heavy loads.

The new cargo range strengthens PEUGEOT Cycles’ electric mobility offering to meet the growing needs of an increasing number of customers:

  • Urban families where dedicated cycling infrastructure (bike lanes, dedicated parking, etc.) is developing
  • Companies of all sizes, from artisans turning their bi-porteur cargo bike into a new work tool, to logistics companies seeking a complementary and competitive fleet of light vehicles suitable for last-mile delivery.

These three new connected electric bike universes, aimed at both B2C and B2B audiences, will be designed and manufactured by the startup Beweel.

The entire Peugeot Cycles range, now expanded, will be available through major Cycleurope Industries dealerships.

Meanwhile, Beweel will market the three new connected bike universes through its own distribution channels.
