Toyota GR Supra

In view of 2024 and the upcoming “murderer” tax on internal combustion cars, Toyota offers a nice deal on its enjoyable coupe, the GR Supra.

It’s not every day that a manufacturer discounts a niche sports coupe. The volumes are low and quite well managed. But by the end of 2023, things will change: the 2024 tax will be the most severe ever conceived for internal combustion cars. Small, large, everyone will suffer, and to an astonishing extent.

The case of the Toyota GR Supra is striking. In its 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo version producing 258 horsepower, its 2023 tax is 3,331 euros. It will rise to 4,543 euros in 2024 due to its 161g of CO2 emitted per kilometer. But the punishment is exponential for its 6-cylinder 3.0-liter version producing 340 horsepower: with 183g of CO2/km, it is taxed at 10,980 euros in 2023 and 28,413 euros in 2024!

Needless to say, no one will be buying this model next year. So, to clear out stock, Toyota is discounting the coupe by €4,000 until January 2, 2024. For the 2.0-liter version, this is almost enough to offset the tax. It’s still some “price.” So, the Japanese coupe drops from €57,600 to €63,600, while the 3.0-liter version goes from €69,600 to €65,600… before the tax remains to be paid.

You won’t be able to get lost in the online configuration tool afterward: there is only one option available, the exterior color.
