Three cars from the Chinese group appear in the film adapted from the series “Call My Agent!”. A product placement that illustrates BYD’s ambitions with the French public.
To make a name for itself in France, BYD is not relying solely on its dealerships. The Chinese manufacturer is also making an appearance in “Call My Agent!”, the film directed by Émilie Noblet, featuring Camille Cottin, Laure Calamy, Thibault de Montalembert, and Nicolas Maury. Three models are featured on screen: the electric city car Dolphin Surf, the SUV Sealion 7, and the large Denza Z9GT, representing the group’s premium brand. The group aims to make its name and cars more familiar to French motorists. Showing them in popular fiction offers another entry point than discussions about range or charging speed.
This collaboration had already led to an appearance in “Miraculous Chibi”: Marinette drove a Dolphin Surf to meet Adrien. A change of audience with “Call My Agent!”, but the same logic of visibility applies.
BYD and Mediawan announce more projects starting in 2027. Therefore, it will probably be necessary to get used to seeing these cars between two lines of dialogue.
