Mazda will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the world’s best-selling roadster at the Retromobile Show from February 5 to 9, 2025.

On the occasion of the 49th edition of the Retromobile Show, Mazda will highlight the iconic history of the MX-5, recognized as the best-selling roadster in the world. First introduced at the Chicago Motor Show on February 9, 1989, the first-generation MX-5, called NA, will be displayed alongside the three subsequent generations (NB, NC, and ND) from February 5 to 9, 2025, marking its 35th anniversary.

Inspired by classic rear-wheel-drive sports cars but innovative with its front-central engine layout, which ensures optimal weight balance, the Japanese roadster revived a nearly vanished segment at the end of the 1980s. Compact and lightweight, the MX-5 redefined open-air driving enjoyment. Mazda’s engineers relied on the principles of Jinba-Ittai, a Japanese philosophy advocating perfect harmony between rider and mount. Applied to the MX-5, it offers the driver a unique connection with their vehicle, ensuring remarkable balance, agility, and lightness.

The fourth generation, introduced in 2015, will also be showcased at Porte de Versailles, a few months after its 2024 model year release. This model revisits the proportions of the 1989 MX-5 NA, with increased compactness, a lowered driving position, and well-balanced weight distribution. The 2024 version features new front and rear lights, a redesigned infotainment system, and a DSC Track driving mode for enhanced agility.

Visitors to the show will be able to discover on Mazda’s stand in Hall 1 the following models:

1.6L engine with 90 horsepower, 5-speed manual transmission, Yellow Sunracer color
