Renault revises its R5 electric range with increased autonomy and a striking starting price of 18,810 euros. However, to obtain this price, one must benefit from the maximum level of available subsidies.
A brand new electric Renault 5 for under 19,000 euros? This is now the price highlighted by Renault for its new range: 18,810 euros for the R5 Five “urban autonomy.” An appealing amount that, however, deserves some explanation, as its list price is actually 24,990 euros.
The difference therefore reaches 6,180 euros. It corresponds to the maximum “Kickback Electric Passenger Vehicle” bonus retained by Renault. Since July 2025, this aid, funded by energy savings certificates (CEE), replaces the former ecological bonus. In 2026, its amount will depend, in part, on the household’s resources. The indicative amounts announced by the State can reach 5,700 euros for low-income households, 4,700 euros for modest households, and 3,500 euros for other households. An additional bonus is planned for cars equipped with a battery made in Europe. Actual amounts may vary with the value of the CEEs.
Cheaper, but not for everyone
In other words, 18,810 euros is indeed a possible price, but it is not the price that every buyer will automatically benefit from. It corresponds to the maximum deduction of 6,180 euros announced by Renault and assumes that the required conditions are met.
This new range does not only rely on subsidies. The 52 kWh battery gains an additional 20 km of range, increasing from 410 to 430 km WLTP, thanks in part to aerodynamic and electronic improvements. The 40 kWh version now reaches 315 km.
Even more interesting, the upcoming Five will evolve with a 110 hp engine, a new 36.5 kWh LFP battery, and 305 km WLTP. Moreover, it will finally receive fast DC charging at 80 kW.
At the same time, Renault adds new colors, customization options, Qi2 wireless charging, and Google’s Gemini assistant. Already the best-selling electric car in France in 2025, the R5 is thus seeking to consolidate its lead by improving both its range and its accessibility.
