Maserati MCXtrema, the Track Beast at the Trident

Maserati MCXtrema

The Maserati MCXtrema with 730 horsepower continues its development in its natural environment, the track.

This track beast, not street-legal and produced in only 62 units, has been spotted in action during a series of tests necessary for its final tuning. This devilish car is an evolution of the already formidable Maserati MC20, which provides its technical foundation.

In February, it had its first official outing at the Autodromo Varano de’ Melegari (Parma) under the expert hands of Andrea Bertolini, Maserati’s test driver and one of the most decorated drivers in the GT category with four world titles. This shakedown and subsequent sessions refined the car’s performance and unleashed the full power of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine developing 730 hp (540 kW).

For Track Use Only

Before hitting the track, the MCXtrema underwent significant virtual development with about 200 hours of Maserati dynamic simulator time and 1000 hours of data analysis and comparison with track feedback.

“Taking a new car to the track always brings a unique and special feeling, as is the case with the MCXtrema,” Bertolini shared. “A wonderful creation made to devour asphalt and navigate curves, a true gem of mechanics and aerodynamics, perfect for balance and handling. For months, we have worked with a team of highly qualified and passionate people. What makes this car great is the exceptional teamwork, resulting in a sports car of the future. With the MCXtrema, we worked on the track always keeping in mind the needs of the Maserati customers to whom this car is dedicated. The interior has been designed around the driver; we have developed a unique cockpit, a cross between that of a fighter jet and a Formula 1 car. The MCXtrema is an evolution of the MC20 without street homologation, allowing us to achieve this ultimate, extreme, and exhilarating version. The MCXtrema is pure driving pleasure.”
