Ferrari Amalfi Spider: The Sweet Life Under the Open Sky

Ferrari Amalfi Spider

With the Amalfi Spider, Ferrari brings the spirit of its new V8 coupe into a convertible interpretation that combines performance, elegance, and versatility.

At Ferrari, designing a convertible is never simply about removing a roof. With the new Amalfi Spider, the Italian manufacturer offers a modern interpretation of the front-mid-engine spider, designed to combine sporty performance, refinement, and everyday versatility. This new model embodies Ferrari’s vision of grand touring, capable of blending mechanical sensations and the joy of open-top driving.

The 3.9-liter biturbo V8 from the renowned F154 family sits under its long sculpted hood. In this evolution, the engine develops 640 hp at 7,500 rpm, achieving a specific power of 166 hp/liter and a maximum rev limit of 7,600 rpm. The evolution of the turbo management system now allows for independent control of their rotational speed, which can reach 171,000 rpm! This architecture improves both boost precision and acceleration responsiveness.

The engine is paired with the dual-clutch robotic gearbox with eight gears, introduced in the SF90 Stradale. Ferrari also announces several optimizations aimed at reducing weight and internal friction, notably through new lightweight camshafts and the use of low-viscosity engine oil.

A noble soft top

One of the central elements of this Ferrari Amalfi Spider is, of course, its retractable soft top. Fully automatic, it opens in 13.5 seconds and can be operated while driving up to 60 km/h. Once folded, its limited bulk—only 220 mm thick—allows for an interesting trunk volume for the category: 255 liters with the roof closed and 172 liters with the roof open. The multilayer canvas roof also provides acoustic and thermal insulation close to that of a retractable hardtop.

In terms of design, the spider retains the elegant proportions of the coupe version. Designed by the Ferrari Design Studio, led by Flavio Manzoni, the silhouette is characterized by a long hood, clean surfaces, and sculpted volumes. The new Rosso Tramonto hue, developed specifically for this model, draws inspiration from the colors of the sunset on the Amalfi Coast.

The cabin adopts the “dual cockpit” architecture, enveloping the driver and passenger in two distinct spaces. The interface evolves with the return of physical controls on the steering wheel and the iconic aluminum start button. Three screens structure the digital environment: a 15.6-inch instrument panel, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, and an 8.8-inch passenger display. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MyFerrari Connect compatibility complete the equipment.

A high-tech diva

In terms of dynamics, the Ferrari Amalfi Spider features a brake-by-wire system associated with Evo ABS and SSC 6.1 drift control. Active aerodynamics also contribute to the vehicle’s balance with a three-position rear wing—Low Drag, Medium Downforce, and High Downforce—capable of generating up to 110 kg of additional downforce at 250 km/h.

Ferrari has also enhanced comfort when driving with the top down with a wind deflector integrated into the backrest of the rear seat. This elegant accessory deploys electrically to limit turbulence in the cabin during open-top journeys.
