It was just 100 euros short, but the new BMW iX1 eDrive20 is now available to order starting at €46,900, making it eligible for the 2023 ecological bonus.

Opening from the bottom, certainly, but still opening. A form of Darwinism in an era when Tesla offers an exemplary electric SUV on the market – the Model Y – for 45,990 euros… before the ecological bonus of 5000 euros. So, 40,990 euros after application. Or even 38,690 euros on cars already available in stock.

BMW hadn’t been able to do better so far with only one equivalent, the iX1 eDrive30, at €57,150, representing a significant difference of nearly €20,000! A response was needed, and here it is. The BMW iX1 eDrive is available to order at a price of €46,900 and can therefore benefit from the ecological bonus, bringing its price down to €41,900.

The power of the BMW iX1 eDrive20 drops from 313 to 204 horsepower (150 kW) compared to the eDrive30 version. Conversely, this rationalization allows the range to jump from 396 to 430 km, or up to 475 km in urban driving exclusively. Compared to its big brother, consumption decreases with a mixed cycle announced at 17.2 kWh/100 km, versus 18.1 for the 313 hp version. The battery retains its size: 64.7 kWh usable.

Acceleration will still be sufficient for daily use, with 0 to 100 km/h dispatched in 8.6 seconds, and a top speed limited to 170 km/h. In terms of charging speed… the eDrive20 will accept up to 130 kW in direct current (10 to 80% in 29 minutes), and 11 kW in alternating current (at home or at work). As an option, it can be upgraded to 22 kW.

Maintaining all the other qualities that define a BMW – quality of manufacturing, comfort, reliability – the iX1 eDrive20 comes standard with satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control, a rearview camera, and a large digital screen of nearly 21 inches diagonal.

It also benefits from an offer at €490/month without a deposit (leasing with purchase option) for a BMW iX1 eDrive20 in M Sport trim, equipped with metallic paint and the Premium Pack (Advanced Full LED headlights, wireless induction charging, Comfort Access).

The production of the BMW iX1 eDrive20 will begin in November 2023 in Germany, no longer in China as in the past.
